Truffle Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Celebrate a special occasion or just the company of friends and family with this recipe for juicy steak and garlic mashed potatoes. Porcini Mushrooms with White Truffle Oil sauce simmers to create a delectable complement to medium-rare steak. Cut in and enjoy!
Step 1: Cover potatoes and garlic with salted water in large saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and cook uncovered until potatoes are tender, about 12 minutes. Drain; return to saucepan. Add 1/4 cup butter, milk and salt and pepper to taste; mash until smooth.
Step 2: Meanwhile, season steak, if desired, with salt and pepper. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and cook steak, turning once, to desired doneness, 6 to 8 minutes for medium-rare. Remove steak; set aside and keep warm.
Step 3: Heat remaining 1 tablespoon butter in same skillet over medium heat and cook onion, stirring frequently, until golden, about 5 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup water, cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 4 minutes. Stir in sauce and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes.
Step 4: Cut steak into 4 pieces. Spoon sauce onto plates; top with steak and serve with mashed potatoes. Garnish, if desired, with chopped parsley.
