Portafogli di lonza alle verze

This dish is a classic Italian country home cooking recipe for friskier to cold days of winter.

Slice the onion finely. Cut the cabbage into thin strips. Heat 2 tablespoons of Bertolli Extra Virgin olive oil in a sauté pan and sweat the onions and cabbage until tender. Season with salt and pepper.

Put the pork slices flat out on a tray. Put a slice of ham, followed by a slice of cheese on top of each pork loin. Roll each loin up tightly and secure with a toothpick.

Heat the remaining 3 tablespoons of Bertolli Extra Virgin olive oil in a sauté pan and fry the pork rolls on all sides until well seared. Pour the broth and the wine over the rolls. Cook without a lid until the liquid is reduced by 1/3.

To complete the meal, accompany with some bread and fruit.

A tip:

You can steam some whole cabbage leaves and wrap them around the fried pork rolls with ham & cheese.

You can also add some sage leaves while sautéing the onion and cabbage.
